So as many of you may know from my last post a young man recently arrived on the shores of Prospero’s island. He informed that his name was Ferdinand and that he was the Prince of Naples, I was in amazement for I had never meet a true prince before. Prospero on the other hand did not seem too happy about it. About 30 minutes after the boy arrived three men named Alonso, Sebastian, and Antonio washed up along the banks. I was hoping these men were here to take Prospero back home. He had tried to destroy the island and I want Caliban and Ariel back and the only way to do this is with Prospero gone. Unfortunately after a little bit of innocent snooping I overheard Prospero yelling in a rage of anger that this was all their fault and that they need to leave. I had learned so much about Prospero’s past and now seeing how their ship was still in the middle of the ocean anchored in the exact spot Prospero and Miranda were at when they were sent to the island, there was no way for them to return home. The four men were now stuck, which meant so was Prospero. After this insane situation unfolded to no one’s surprise Miranda had loads of questions for her father. As much as I hated Prospero I came to love his daughter Miranda. Miranda was a smart and strong girl and I found ways to befriend her. This in someways helped me correct my mistakes as a mother to Caliban. He carefully explained how they came to be on this island and all about the men who had just arrived. Miranda couldn't understand how her father could have turned this situation into a way to take over the land of these natives. After his explanation was over he knew he had some things to do and based on her reaction he decided to cast a spell on to Miranda making her fall into a deep sleep. He thought the best way to get back at these men was to attract Ferdinand to his side of the island, so with the help of Ariel, he was able to lure him over with a little music. To Prospero’s surprise Miranda became smitten by Ferdinand and they quickly fell in love. Miranda’s father was cautious because of the possibility that Ferdinand was a spy but in the end was happy for the two of them. To test the boy Prospero casted a spell on him requiring him to carry thousands of logs. He did so all by himself. Miranda wished she could assist him, but was forbidden by her father. After the curse was broken Prospero was pleased and allowed the two to get married.
